INDIAN RIVER COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
POSITION: Comptroller (part-time)
SUMMARY:
The Comptroller manages financial transactions and records for the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations. Responsibilities include accounts payable & receivable, monthly reconciliation and reporting, payroll, budget tracking, and grant management. The Comptroller collaborates with the President and external auditors to maintain financial health and transparency.
SKILLS & EDUCATION:
Background in full-charge bookkeeping, including payroll, A/P, A/R, and account reconciliation. A degree in finance and/or administration is desirable but experience may offset formal education. Positive attitude towards members, clients and staff is essential. Minimum three years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably using Quickbooks Online.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Prepare and mail invoices for membership, events, publications, and services.
- Monitor and collect delinquent accounts with Membership Director’s assistance.
- Prepare vendor checks, track outstanding accounts, and maintain records and receipts.
- Process and reconcile inter-department reimbursements.
- Collaborate with Department Directors and County Budget Office to submit monthly grant reports.
- Oversee payroll, time records, and commission earnings.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with year-end audits.
- Maintain bank records and reconcile accounts monthly.
- File monthly sales tax returns.
- Reconcile post-event attendance & payments.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Proficiency in Quickbooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Project a professional image suitable for corporate and government interactions.
- Flexible, cooperative, and customer-focused in all interactions.
COMPENSATION: Hourly; Range $25 - $30 per hour based on experience
HOURS: 15-20 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Chamber President
