Indian River County Chamber of Commerce Board announces support for approval

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, I am writing to express our strong support for approval of the proposed referendums to amend section 5.06 of the City of Vero Beach Charter, on the ballot November 5, 2024. After careful review, we believe that approval of both referendums represents a crucial step forward for our community and its long-term sustainable growth.

The first referendum, concerning the Transfer of Development Rights to increase workforce housing, is an essential measure for the success of our local business community. This initiative aligns with our commitment to support increased workforce housing opportunities for Indian River County residents. The second referendum, which addresses a proposed increase in residential density in the Downtown Commercial District, is equally important and represents a proactive approach to addressing the certain future growth of our area. We believe it will enhance the overall well-being of Vero Beach residents and our Downtown district.

Our board recognizes that these referendums are integral to fostering long-term prosperity and sustainability for our community. We are committed to supporting initiatives that promote increased workforce housing, and these referendums align perfectly with those principles. We encourage all residents to vote in favor of these measures to advance our shared vision for a prosperous and thriving Vero Beach. Thank you for your attention to these matters and for your continued dedication to improving our city. Should you need any additional information or support from our organization, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Donna D'Alfonso
Chair, Board of Directors
