About the Awards
Carolyn K. Eggert Economic Development Award
The Carolyn K. Eggert Economic Development Award was established in 1999 in memory of Carolyn Eggert. Carolyn was a community leader who served as a County Commissioner from the mid-1980s to the mid-90s. She was a staunch supporter of economic diversification and job creation.
Jack Chesnutt Ambassador of the Year Award
Jack Chesnutt was a local businessman and realtor who was actively involved with our Chamber for 67 years. After his passing in 2016, we renamed this award to honor his lifelong service to the Chamber.
Alma Lee Loy Community Service Award
A businesswoman, philanthropist, commissioner, and all-around humanitarian, Alma Lee Loy served Indian River County for many years with many different titles. She received many awards and accolades and has since become the namesake for numerous awards, buildings, and the 17th Street Bridge. Known as the First Lady of Vero Beach, she had a hand in almost every aspect of the city as we know it: the hospital district, Mckee Gardens, city legislation, and the local business community. While Alma Lee received many awards, several have also been named in her honor. One such award is the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce "Alma Lee Loy Community Service Award" recognizing citizens of Indian River County who have distinguished themselves professionally through excellence and privately through commitment to the community. She was the first female chairman of their board. The Chamber’s "Alma Lee Loy Building" was dedicated in her name.
